Here comes the nighttime

This time of year there’s a lot of night. Sometimes I hate it, especially when I think of it as a lack of daytime. I’m a Leo who loves the sun, so only getting a few hours of light can feel bleak.

But sometimes it can feel like an adventure… poetic even, if I really try. An abundance of nighttime.

*Nightlife* was a term that fascinated me growing up. I didn’t know what it meant exactly (Wearing dangly earrings? Laughing while making a toast?) but it sounded great. Nighttime was for adults, no kids allowed. So naturally, I wanted to be a part of it.

And here I am now, a certified adult, complaining about the whole damn thing. I don’t wanna be that guy.

In an effort to enjoy these long nights, I’ve decided to adjust my mindset. Can I become a night owl? Temporarily?

Nighthawks, Edward Hopper, 1942

I’ve noticed that doing creative things helps. Illustrating in the day is fun, but illustrating at night makes me feel like Edward Hopper. Knitting in the day is fine, but knitting at night is extra cozy. Reading a book in the day is good, but reading a book at night is better.

It’s all about setting the vibe: blankets, candles, and of course, music.

After Dark Playlist 🌚

I gathered my favorite songs about nighttime to help you channel your inner night owl. The songs about life after hours, and all the adventures that come with it.

Recommended listening: once the sun sets at 4:30pm, put this playlist on as soon as you need a little boost. Whether you’re spending the night in or heading out, this playlist will work wonders ⋆☾⭒⋆
